 On Thursday, the government reduced the price of gasoline by Rs7.54 per liter while increasing the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs1.48 per liter for the following two weeks. The price increase for HSD will start on August 1, 2025. However, it has reduced the price of petrol for the next fortnight that will remain effective till August 15.

 The finance ministry in a statement said that the Government of Pakistan’s Finance Division has announced new petroleum product prices that will be effective from August 1, 2025.

 It stated that the price adjustments were made after taking into account recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and other relevant ministries, as well as studying trends in the international market. The statement states that the cost of HSD has increased by Rs1.48 per liter, bringing the current price to Rs285.83. The existing price was Rs284.35 per liter.

  The previous petroleum price per liter was Rs272.15. These revised prices will be in effect for the next fortnight.

 Since the government increased the price of HSD by Rs10.39 per liter on July 1, 2025, consumers have seen a significant increase in the prices of petroleum products. The high speed diesel is widely used in the agriculture and transport sectors.  As a result, a new price increase will result in inflationary effects for customers. Tractor farmers use this fuel, while the transportation industry also uses it. As a result, goods transportation costs would rise, leading to nationwide inflation. From July 1, the government has also increased the cost of gasoline by Rs8.36 per liter. Ogra slashes LPG price by Rs17.7 per kg The new price for the 11.8kg cylinder was Rs2,750.6 for July, against Rs2,838.31 for June.  It said that the LPG producer price was linked with Saudi Aramco-CP and US dollar exchange rate..

 In a notification from the regulator today, available with Dawn.com, Ogra set the new consumer price for an 11.8kg cylinder at Rs2,541.36 for August, compared to Rs2,750.6 last month.  LPG’s maximum retail price per kilogram was set at Rs215.37. On Friday, August 1, these prices will take effect. The prices “shall be regulated as the maximum LPG price at all levels of the supply chain for indigenous as well as imported LPG.

 The notification also showed that the new producer price for an 11.8kg cylinder stood at Rs2,054.02.

The cost of a liter of gasoline has been reduced by Rs7.54 by the government. The petrol will be available now at the new price of Rs264.61 per litre. As a result, customs duties have also seen a reduction, from Rs15.33 per litre to Rs14.29 per litre. The ex-refinery price of petrol has dropped from Rs168.73 to Rs159.66 per litre.

Sources further indicated that additional adjustments to petroleum prices may be made due to exchange rate changes. The final price determination will be submitted to the Ministry of Finance on July 31, with the ministry expected to consider revenue targets when making its decision.

The customs duties have also decreased, going from Rs15.33 per liter to Rs14.29 per liter as a result of the new prices. The ex-refinery price of petrol has dropped from Rs168.73 to Rs159.66 per litre.

 Additionally, sources indicated that changes in the exchange rate may result in additional price adjustments for petroleum. The final price determination will be submitted to the Ministry of Finance on July 31, with the ministry expected to consider revenue targets when making its decision. into effect from August 1, 2025
